11/02/2005 - First Doctor's Appointment

Emma had her first doctor's appointment today. We chose a pediatric group which is within walking distance from our house. This first time, however, we took the car. I took the day off from work, and they scheduled us nice and early before all of the sick kids got there. They encourage parents to use all of the doctors in the practice, which seemed like a good idea. On this day, Emma's doctor, whose name escapes me at the moment, was the newest addition to their staff. To say that she was young would be an understatement. Think Doogie Houser. Regardless, Emma was great. She pooped and peed on the examination table, and pretty much screamed the whole time. I guess she figured we ought to get our money's worth. Everything checked out fine. We were both concerned about how much she was getting to eat, since Marie is breast feeding. She had dropped down to 7 lbs., by the time we brought her home, but on this day, she weighed in at 8 lbs., 4 oz., and had already grown an inch! After the once over, the doctor told us to keep up what we were doing and to call if we had any questions. What a relief! Tom
